From UK Police to Texas PI: Why I left the Desk Behind to Fight for You
People often ask me how I ended up as a Private Investigator in Texas. The truth is, my journey here wasn't a straight line, but every step of my 20-year career was building toward one specific goal: fighting for people who need it most.
The front lines of UK Policing
My career began across the pond as a police officer in the UK. Policing in the UK is unique. It relies heavily on community engagement, communication, and the ability to read people. It was there, walking the beat and responding to calls, that I learned the raw, foundational elements of investigation. I was the one stepping into chaotic, highly emotional situations, tasked with bringing order, securing evidence, and finding the truth when tensions were at their highest.
But more importantly, those years taught me what it truly meant to serve a community. Whether I was interviewing a hardened suspect or comforting a victim on the absolute worst day of their life, I realized that my greatest tool wasn't just gathering facts, it was my ability to connect with people. I loved the tangible, immediate impact of helping individuals navigate their darkest hours, and that drive became the bedrock of my entire career.
The Corporate Shift
Eventually, my career took a different path. The Police in the UK is a long career, 35 years when I started to achieve a full pension so I took an opportunity mid-career to take a break. I travelled to the US met my wife and it is here where I transitioned into the corporate sector, joining a Fortune 500 company where I conducted complex, high-level investigations and trained their investigative teams. From there, I moved into the private investigation space, eventually running a PI firm here in Texas.
The "Aha!" Moment
On paper, running an agency was a success. But that was exactly when my "Aha!" moment hit.
Sitting behind a desk managing operations and overseeing a company, I realized I had drifted away from the very thing that drew me to this profession in the first place. I was running a business, but I wasn't doing the actual work. I wasn't on the front lines helping real people in their times of dire need.
I looked around and saw how the justice system operates in the US. It is an intimidating, terrifying machine. When an average person goes up against a massive corporation, a government agency, or an uncompromising spouse in family court, they are often entirely outgunned. I knew I had the exact skill set needed to level that playing field, but I couldn't do it from behind a CEO's desk.
Getting back to the front lines
I stepped away from running that firm so I could get back to doing what I do best: serving my community. Today, as a Texas Board Certified Investigator (TBCI), I use the same elite tactics I honed over two decades, surveillance, advanced OSINT, cognitive interviewing, and strategic planning, to help everyday people.
Whether I am working on a missing persons case, a wrongful death claim, or a high-stakes divorce and custody matter, my philosophy remains the same. When you sit down in my office, my first job is to listen and reassure you. From there, we build a customized, actionable plan that factors in your financial reality.
I left the executive desk behind because I wanted to fight for the underdog. If you are facing a battle and feel outmatched, I am here to stand in your corner.
